ActiveX Filtering using Internet Explorer 9 RC

With IE9 RC Microsoft has offered a greater control over Active X Filtering with the browser. With ActiveX Filtering, you can turn off ActiveX controls for all Web sites and then turn them back on selectively as you see fit. Some users completely turn off Active X due to security, performance and other reason. IE Blog as blogged about the Active X Filtering technique which will help us in turning it back on for only the way we want it. Because Active X controller is very important in today’s browsing environment like Flash videos etc.

You can try out ActiveX Filtering in the Release Candidate using this demo from the IE TestDrive site. IE Blog has also posted a short video that would take you through the short features of Active X Filtering.

By default the Active X Filtering would be turned off to ensure you enjoy the full experience of the browser. But you can easily turn it on from the Tools Menu.

Tools / IE9 Tools Menu Icon > Safety > ActiveX Filtering

Once you enable ActiveX Filtering, IE prevents ActiveX controls from running on all Web sites
